The 1^st Thanksgiving

On the first Thanksgiving

Everyone was at the table.

The pilgrims and their new friends

All who was able.

They ate turkey and pie

with plenty to spare.

Giving thanks for safe passage

With thoughtful care.

The pilgrims gathered corn

And learned to make bread

from the wheat.

Picked apples by the bushel

More new friend they did meet.

With much work and hard toil,

They no longer has to roam.

Together, the natives and pilgrims

The new land was now home

It’s Thanksgiving Day!

The feast is now ready!

Friends have arrived

Come as they may.

Time to celebrate

  It’s Time Again!

It’s time to eat turkey again,

With dressing of corn,

Mashed potatoes and gravy

I’m glad I was born.

It’s Thanksgiving day and my, oh my,

I just can’t wait for the hot apple pie!

On the Mayflower

The journey was long,

Through the wind and the gale.

The Pilgrims from England

On the Mayflower did sail

We came to our new land,

And hit Plymouth rock,

Time to build a new city

Right off of the dock.

Say good bye to the old,

Cause’ there’s work to be done.

We’re building a new nation

America is born.

Let’s gather together, and bow your head,

Give thanks for our plenty,

Corn, stuffing and bread.

A basket of apples for a dozen hot pies,

A plate full of turkey, can’t believe my eyes.

Give thanks for our loving family and friends

And for our blessings that don’t seem to end.
