SCAT THE CAT

Once upon a there was a purple cat named Scat.   Scat spent his days playing with his friends,   Yellow Mouse, Green Fish, and Red Bird.   Scat found himself feeling sad.   He was tired of being purple.   One day he decided he wanted to be yellow, like Yellow Mouse.   Yellow mouse has such a great life; I want to be like him.   I no longer want to be me.   I want to be yellow like Yellow Mouse!

So, Scat the cat yelled, “I’m Scat the Cat, I’m sassy and fat, I can change my colors just like THAT!” Scat turned around 2 times, and then clapped his hands loudly and he turned into a Yellow Cat.

“I love being yellow.”   Scat shouted.   Look at me; I am just like Yellow Mouse.   His friends were not so sure.   He said, I am going to play with yellow mouse.   Yellow mouse scurried into his tiny mouse hole, Scat followed. CRASH!   Scat did not fit.   Scat could not play with yellow mouse and all his friends.   He really was not a mouse.   He was still Scat the Cat.   Scat decided he did not want to be yellow any more.   He wanted to be like Green Bird.

So, Scat the cat yelled, “I’m Scat the Cat, I’m sassy and fat, I can change my colors just like THAT!” Scat turned around 2 times, and then clapped his hands loudly and he turned into a Green Cat.

“I love being green.”   Scat shouted.   Look at me; I am just like Green Fish.   His friends were not so sure.   He said, I am going to play with Green Fish.   Green Fish swam into the middle of his pond. Scat tried to follow… Oh, No!   Scat could not swim.   He was not a fish.   Even thought he was green, just like Green Fish,   Scat really was not a fish.   He was still Scat the Cat.   Scat decided he did not want to be green any more.   He wanted to be like Red Bird.

So, Scat the cat yelled, “I’m Scat the Cat, I’m sassy and fat, I can change my colors just like THAT!” Scat turned around 2 times, and then clapped his hands loudly and he turned into a Red Cat.

“I love being red.”   Scat shouted.   Look at me; I am just like Red Cat.   His friends were not so sure.   He said, I am going to play with Red Bird.   Red Bird flew up into the nearest tree.   Scat tried to follow… Oh, No!   Scat could not fly.   He was not a bird.   Even thought he was red, just like Red Bird,   Scat really was not a bird.   He was still Scat the Cat.   Scat decided he did not want to be red any more.   Scat told his friends that he wanted to be Orange .   They all shouted, “SCAT!   No!”   They told scat they liked him Purple!   They liked him just the way he was.     “Please Scat, don’t change anymore!” they cried!   Scat listened to his friends.

So, Scat the cat yelled, “I’m Scat the Cat, I’m sassy and fat, I can change my colors just like THAT!” Scat turned around 2 times, and then clapped his hands loudly and he turned back into himself… the sassy and fat Purple Cat!

LITTLE MOUSE, LITTLE MOUSE

Place all 6 houses on the felt board.   Using any one of the mice, hide the mouse behind one of the houses.   Say… “Little Mouse, Little Mouse; Are you hiding in your     Red/blue/etc.    house?”   Children may remove the felt houses or guess which house Little Mouse is hiding in.

HAVE YOU SEEN MY BLUE BALLOON?

Robin Suitt

All the bears had planned a balloon flying party.   Each bear was to bring his favorite balloon.    Blue bear woke up on Saturday very excited.   He thought to himself, “Today is the balloon flying party, I will bring my favorite balloon… the blue one.   First, got up, he washed his face, ate breakfast, brushed his teeth,   combed his hair, made his bed, did his morning dishes, water the plants, fed the cat and the fish,   packed a lunch … until finally it was time to go.   Blue bear was very busy, he was late!   He raced out of his blue house to the park.

All his friends were at the park.   Blue bear went to greet them when all of a sudden he FROZE.   Where was his blue balloon?   He did not have it.   He looked everywhere.   He could not find it.   It was not in his car, it was not in his hand…. Where was it?

Blue Bear went up to Red Bear and said… Have you seen my Blue Balloon?   Red bear said, “No, my balloon is red, as you can see.”   Blue Bear continued the hunt.

Blue Bear went up to Yellow Bear and said… Have you seen my Blue Balloon?   Yellow Bear   said, “No, my balloon is yellow, as you can see.”   Blue Bear continued to look.

Blue Bear went up to Orange Bear and said… Have you seen my Blue Balloon?   Orange Bear said, “No, my balloon is Orange , as you can see.”   Blue Bear continued the search.

Blue bear went up to Purple Bear and said… Have you seen my Blue Balloon?   Purple Bear said, “No, my balloon is Purple, as you can see.”   Blue Bear continued the investigation.

Green Bear was Blue Bears last hope.   He walked across the part to Green Bear…

Blue bear went up to Green Bear and said… Have you seen my Blue Balloon?   Green Bear said, “No, my balloon is Green,   as you can see.”   Blue Bear was very sad.

He decided to just go home!   He could not have any fun at a balloon party without a balloon.

Blue Bear drove all the way home, parked the car, go out of his car, locked his car, walked up to the door of his house, unlocked the door, opened the door…. And guess what…. There was his Blue Balloon.   Blue Bear was so busy getting ready he forgot his Blue Balloon.

Has that ever happened to you?
